Work Experience
Year 10 students completed a successful week of Work Experience during May this year. Occupations ranged from soccer coach to scientist, air traffic controller to animal carer, immigration officer to IT technician, carpenter to class-room assistant to name but a few.
The week provided an excellent taster of what the world of work has to offer its future employees, whilst giving students a valuable opportunity to develop their own skills and attributes in a safe working environment.
Student feedback has been very positive with many students reluctant to return to school, whilst others are now more focussed upon what they need to achieve in school in order to get a job they will enjoy.
Employer feedback, as ever, has been fantastic. Memorable quotes include: ‘would not hesitate to take on as a trainee’, ‘an asset to any future employer’, ‘greatly impressed by ability to work independently and creatively’ ‘a great ambassador for the school’ and‘ the most motivated and helpful student we have had on Work Experience’.
A big highlight for teachers is being able to visit students during their week. All agreed that it is so rewarding to see students blossoming in the workplace and taking responsibility for themselves.
