Celebration of Achievement Evening

Tanbridge House School was delighted to have the opportunity to celebrate the efforts and achievements of students and to welcome former students, parents, staff, governors, guests and guest speaker, Martin Brunt, Crime Correspondent with Sky News, Martin Brunt covers crime stories worldwide and has broken exclusive news stories through his extensive network of contacts. He has been with Sky News for over eight years. Martin’s information led to Sky News being the first to report that the July 7 events in London were the work of terrorists. He also broke the news of death of the Queen Mother and the murder of Jill Dando, among a long list of scoops.

Martin has travelled to the Philippines to investigate those trading in dog flesh, and travelled to South Africa to investigate the murder enquiry that began after a boy’s torso was found in the River Thames in 2001. Tanbridge House School prize winners were delighted to collect their prizes from Martin Brunt.

Thirty one students who sat their G.C.S.E. examinations in the summer returned to Tanbridge House School to receive Prizes for Excellence for their outstanding G.C.S.E. grades. The four top students, Simon Rafferty, Niall Browne, Sheran Owens and Helen Chesters, are pictured here with Martin Brunt and Maureen Johnson.

Following a very warm welcome from Mr Keith Pailthorpe, Deputy Headteacher, Mrs Maureen Johnson, Headteacher , gave a review of the last academic year and said “… the climax of the evening was certainly the opportunity we had to congratulate all our Year 11 prize-winners and the year group overall. What they have achieved both personally and collectively this year is very special. It was super to have some time together to show how proud we are of their success”.

All guests enjoyed the two musical interludes provided by Tanbridge House School Concert Band and conducted by Miss Shirley Sweet. The first, Big Noise, from Winnetka arranged by R. Smith and the second, Bad, arranged by J Higgins.
