Building on Success

In August students and teachers celebrated the school’s best ever performance at GCSE.  77% of students achieved at least five A*-C grades with 62% gaining 5 A*-C including English and Maths.

Headteacher Mr White commented: “I am incredibly proud of our students, teachers and support staff.  Our recent GCSE results say so much more about our school than just a record breaking performance, they demonstrate our commitment to our students and the high quality of teaching and learning that are part of Tanbridge House School’s ethos.”

Tanbridge House also saw a significant improvement in the performance of its most able students, who gained 203 A grades, showing the impact of the school’s rigorous Gifted and Talented programme which is coordinated by Ms Bryony Dawson.

From a community perspective the school has also made significant strides and since September 2008 Tanbridge House School has raised £11,000 for charity.   Mr Marshallsay, Senior Assistant Headteacher set up a Charity Committee to facilitate and coordinate increased fundraising efforts throughout the school and said: “the committee’s role is to actively support existing and future charity fundraising within Tanbridge House School and to raise the profile of international, national and local charities.”

Tanbridge House School is very proud of its wide range of extra-curricular activities, which offer opportunities for students to pursue their interests in Music, Drama, Art and Sport, outside of the classroom.  A full programme of public performance, community activities, workshops, exhibitions, dance and sporting fixtures ensure students have an outlet for their talents.  The Leader of Art, Malcolm Hyde is currently putting together an exhibition of Year 10 & 11 artwork which will be displayed at the Capitol Horsham from 11 November to 11 January.

The school has a vibrancy and mood of self confidence.  Mr White concluded: “We are not complacent but are delighted that so many people are taking such an active interest in the school and our students.  We are determined to continue on our successful journey”
