Year 11 Football Team win the Sussex Cup
Tanbridge House U16 Football team travelled to Lancing College to play favourites Warden Park however, after an unbeaten season with victories against St Bedes, Hove Park, Ifield and Thomas Bennett confidence was high.
Tanbridge made a positive start to the game and pressurised their opponents across the pitch. The pairing of Lois Masih and Max Love in attack continued to cause Warden Park problems and the new centre back partnership of Max Lee and Dan Skett along with goalkeeper George Boarer proved a solid base from which to play from. The introduction of Shane Meech to the right side of mid-field for the unlucky Oli Jupp gave Tanbridge more energy and at half time despite a Warden Park goal being disallowed for off side, Tanbridge were much the better side.
After half time, Tanbridge continued to press forward through the hard working Marcus Collier and were awarded a penalty midway through the second half that Toby Tree coolly smashed into the bottom corner. As Warden Park tried to make a comeback, more and more space was becoming available for the influential Sam Bulley in the middle of mid field and the introduction of Cameron Fraser created an opportunity for a wonderfully crafted finish from Max Love, as he curled a delightful shot into the top left hand corner.
The Tanbridge players remained calm and deliberate for the remainder of the game as Patrick Kitcher and Matt O'Dwyer (cap) continued to work tirelessly as more Warden Park players pushed forward.
At the final whistle Tanbridge House ran out deserved 2-0 winners and claimed the well respected Sussex Cup for the first time in their history.
