Duke of Edinburgh

At Tanbridge House School we support both the Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award schemes.

The Bronze Award is open to all Year 10 students, with 28 spaces available and the Silver Award open to students in Year 11, with 14 spaces available.

At the beginning of June each year we hold an assembly and hand out letters for Year 9 students to tell them about the Bronze Award and Year 10 students are informed about the Silver Award during April and May.

There are 4 sections to each Award; Volunteering, Skill, Physical Recreation and Expeditions. Training for the Expedition section takes place once a week after school from December to July for the Bronze Award and during school time from September to the start of examinations for the Silver Award. The other sections are organised individually by the students with guidance from the school.

The Bronze expeditions usually take place over the last weekend in April plus another weekend at the end of June. The Silver expeditions are usually from a Friday to Sunday in September and also at the beginning of July.
