Cycle Safety Notice
A message to students from our Police Liaison Officer
Before you even set off consider your responsibilities as a cyclist:
Your Bike

Make sure your bike is the right size for you.

Make sure it's well maintained - check your tyres, brakes, all accessories etc

Remember - it is against the law to ride your bike at night and when its dark in the morning, without a white front light., red rear reflector, and amber pedal reflectors (if your bike was manufactured after 1/10/85.)

You MUST NOT cycle on the pavement, unless there is a designated cycle path or shared use path.
Your Clothing

ALWAYS wear a cycle helmet

Wear bright clothes with fluorescent strips or accessories

Wearing fluorescent items helps you to be seen ONLY during the day

Reflective items work when its dark
If you use you bike as part of a delivery job, don't put your life at risk for the sake of a wage packet, make sure you are seen.
