Dame Vera Lynn helps to launch Tanbridge's new Charity Project
Dame Vera Lynn attended the launch of Tanbridge House School's new charity project - Horsham 100, which they have developed in conjunction with PMW Communications.
The Horsham 100 campaign is aiming to raise £100,000 for the Dame Vera Lynn Trust by bringing local businesses together to each do their own piece of the fundraising. The hope is that next year, a new charity will be selected and the businesses will come back together and do it all again.
The launch at the school was attended by businesses, including Barclays, Swan Walk and Wabi, who were keen to learn more about the project and get involved.
The project is not asking anyone to hand over any money from their business. Instead, they must come up with creative and inventive challenges for their employees to undertake in return for sponsorship by friends, family and the local community.
Dame Vera Lynn attended the event and The Swingtime Sisters performed a few of her hits for Dame Vera and the audience.
Mr White said: “We were really pleased with how the launch went. There were a number of key local businesses present which was invaluable as we were able to instil in people just how valuable this cause is.”
Peter Sutton, Managing Director of PMW Communications, said: “It was great to see our idea finally unfold. Everyone seemed keen to get involved and the community was most definitely getting together, which is what will be the making of this campaign.”
Sainsbury’s, Foundry Press, Slinfold and Cranleigh Golf and Country Clubs, Horsham Karate, Swan Walk and The Printed Word have already signed up to get involved and Tanbridge is donating the funds raised from its 16 mile sponsored walk. PMW Communications will walk 100km on a walk that can be joined by other businesses who are stuck for a fundraising idea but want to get involved.
