FIRST AID CLUB
First Aid classes are currently held after school for one hour on Thursdays. The group are working for their ‘Young First Aider Award’ and also, new for this year ‘Baby Sitting First Aid Certificate’. Both courses are part of St. Johns Ambulance in schools. The club, which is open to all on a voluntary basis, is an extension to PSHE studies.
In 2009 small groups from our First Aid Club took part in the National First Aid Schools Competition. Our teams secured First, Second and Fourth in the region. As a result we also participated in the National Finals which were held in London where we achieved a spectacular fourth in the country.
Typically First Aiders learn how to preserve life, including how to deal with minor bleeding, chest pain, heart attacks broken bones, resuscitation. The opportunity to secure First aid qualifications is a practical extra offered by Tanbridge House School. This is a valuable additional skill to take forward into the workplace which employers always find of great use.
Our special thanks to Novo Nordisk who sponsor our team
