History centre dedicated to popular teacher
The Stephen Head History Resource Centre opened at the beginning of the summer term 2010 in memory of Mr Head, a popular history teacher who died in a car accident last year.
The new room is filled with computers and has an interactive whiteboard and is designed to help students find out all they need to know about History. It also features a plaque marking Mr Head’s service to the school from January 1997 to October 2009 and striking blinds featuring some of his favourite historical imagery including Queen Elizabeth I and Bodiam Castle.
Upon seeing the centre Justine Harding, Year 11, said: "He would have loved it. It is useful for the students and he was all about the teaching. He was an inspiration to so many people. You could talk to him, he was very easy going and made everyone laugh."
Headteacher Mr White said: "This is a lovely facility and very fitting for Stephen. Although we can’t change the circumstances as we would like to, this is something Stephen would have genuinely wanted and appreciated because of his love of history. He would have wanted to think of Tanbridge students really learning about history. The resource centre is next to Stephen’s room - this was his area. He would have wanted people in five or 10 years time to ask who was Stephen Head."
