HOMEWORK TIMETABLE FOR 2009-2010
Your child will be receiving regular homework in all of their subjects except PSHE and PE. In order to help you support your child with this, below is a set of guidelines for each Key Stage.
Key Stage 3:
Year 7 and 8 approximately 20-30 minutes per subject each night
Year 9 approximately 30-40 minutes per subject each night
Students have no more than 3 subjects of homework per night. Each subject has one homework slot per week, except MFL which has 2 because students will study French and a second foreign language from after October half-term.
Subject teachers will tell students when homework is set each week and when it is due in. Students will have at least 2 evenings to complete homework (i.e. homework for a subject will not be due in the next day).
Key Stage 4:
Year 10 and 11 approximately 45-60 minutes per subject each night
Students have 2 subjects of homework per night. Each subject has one homework slot per week, comprising English, Maths, Science, ICT, RE and each of their option subjects.
Homework in Key Stage 4 is frequently of a more independent nature, with students expected to use the VLE to support their learning. Nevertheless, firm deadlines are still set for all tasks.
If you have any concerns regarding your child’s homework, please contact their tutor in the first instance. If they are unable to help, please feel free to contact me.
