Margot's Garden
The Tanbridge House School Year 7 gardening group were given some extra help on Monday 15 June 2009.
Richard Hillery, horticultural expert and co-director of Margot's Garden worked with the students to add a further raised allotment to the school's vegetable garden, which was established a year ago as an after school project for those students interested in gardening, and overseen by Miss V Edwards, leader of Science.
Richard Hillery said, "The students learnt various techniques from how to sow seeds, to using the correct compost, applying the appropriate amount of feed and water, and about the overall care needed to grow the vegetables."
"Working with Margot´s Garden is a superb opportunity for our students," commented Jules White, Headteacher. He continued "We strive to build strong links with external businesses in the community to ensure continuity and breadth of learning experiences for our students. Having a new organic vegetable bed added to our allotment allows the students to discover biology from a fun and interesting angle. The students are all extremely excited about watching their hard work grow and being able to finally eat the fruits of their labour."
