Year 9 students at Tanbridge House School have been participating in their own “Apprentice” Mathematics project.
In teams of four the students had to choose a flag of a country who are participating in either the 2008 Olympics or Euro 2008 and produce a design and scaled drawing for their flag to be painted onto the front of a house.
Each team was give a budget to work within, they had to research the most economical and efficient way of painting the flags.
The project culminated in the finalists presenting their project to Mr Jules White (Headteacher of Tanbridge House School) in a boardroom situation for Mr White then to choose the winning team.
Mr White said, “What I liked most about this particular project was how this interesting task and one which the students enjoyed working together on was also linked to putting into practise the use of practical maths skills.”
