RESPONSIBILITY
4 LEARNING
EXPECTATIONS & REWARDS
R4L refers to our policy and systems that recognises and rewards good behaviour and progress by our students. R4L also deals with inappropriate behaviour choices in a firm and consistent way, by imposing sanctions (if appropriate) and also by offering support and intervention personalised to each student.
As a school community we are striving to become a ‘Rights-Respecting School’, a UNICEF award based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). This convention provides a globally agreed set of values for all children. By learning about their rights our students also learn about the importance of respecting the rights of others i.e. their responsibilities. Tanbridge House students are encouraged to reflect on how their behaviour and actions impact on those around them, this allows us to build and maintain a positive and safe learning environment for all, both in the classroom and around the school site. In preparation for the launch of RRSA and in consultation with students, our school rules have been re-written to form two charters, one for expectations of rights and responsibilities in the classroom and one for break times.
The ‘Rights-Respecting School’ award will also help our students to grow into confident, caring and responsible young citizens both in school and within the wider community.
