Jules White - Headteacher
I have been in post as Headteacher of Tanbridge House School since January 2008. I am very proud of the significant progress that we have been making since this point and believe that we have improved dramatically both in terms of academic and community standards.
In 2000 I worked as an Educational Consultant in Brighton and then moved to an Assistant Headteacher post at Durrington High School. Prior to my appointment here I was sole Deputy Headteacher at Worthing High School and saw standards at the school rise dramatically over a three year period between 2004 to the end of 2007.
I gained an upper 2nd class degree at the University of Essex, in Politics with subsidiaries in Economics and Sociology.
I have lived with my long suffering partner, Sam for 15 years and take all the credit for having two beautiful daughters called Eva and Alice. My interests mainly centre around sport and I have a particular passion for darts!
-
Simon Liley - Deputy Headteacher
I have been in post as Deputy Headteacher at Tanbridge House since April 2008 and am responsible for leading on most of the key elements relating to the curriculum, teaching and learning. Specifically I oversee the work of the subject leaders, quality assurance of teaching, the design of the curriculum (and timetable) and staff professional development and performance management.
I began my teaching career in Haywards Heath 14 years ago and having left there in 2000 have progressed to sole Deputy Headteacher via Leader of Science (Brighton), Assistant Headteacher (Worthing) and curriculum Deputy Headteacher (Brighton). I chose to apply for my current post to move myself one step closer to headship, and to enjoy the opportunity of working with such a dynamic and inspirational Headteacher as Jules.
I hold an upper second class honours degree from Warwick University, where my main subject was Engineering with subsidiaries in mathematics and business.
I have been blissfully married to Heather for 11 years and we are both kept very busy by our four children, Jacob (9), Freya (7), Noah (2) and Edward (2). When I can find time I enjoy running, cycling and occasionally hitting a small plastic coated ball around a field and into 18 holes.
-
Jill Friese-Greene - Head of Resources
As part of the Senior Management Team, my role at Tanbridge House involves leading the direction of the school in all non-teaching activities. This includes: the Finances for the school – setting the budget and monitoring throughout the year. I also oversee the Premises function – including day to day running and developmental work. I am also the school’s Health & Safety Officer. Additionally I run the Human Resources area for the school, dealing with recruitment, contractual and payroll issues. I also line manage the whole of the schools support staff. I work very closely with the Headteacher and also with key Governors. I have been at Tanbridge House for just over 5 years and previously worked in the credit industry for a financial institution.
I have recently married and have two teenage sons.
-
Simon Harding - Assistant Headteacher
I gained an upper 2nd class degree at the University of Brighton in Business, Education and ICT
Since September 2008 I have held the post as Senior Assistant Headteacher – ICT Developments – at Tanbridge House School and have overseen vast investment in ICT; new computers, new servers plus interactive whiteboards. My underlying aim with any ICT investment is to enhance students’ learning by allowing them to engage in exciting new technologies.
In 1999 I left my London school and was promoted to East Brighton College of Media Arts (Comart) as ICT Coordinator. Working at this Fresh Start School was an eventful experience. I was promoted to Assistant Headteacher: Curriculum Manager in 2003, from which position I saw results rise from 16% A*-C to 42%. From September 2005 I worked at Worthing High School as Learning Director: Assessment and Reporting, in addition to overseeing the whole school ICT.
I am married and have two sons Luca and Alex. My main interest is sport, particularly running, cycling and swimming. However with two children under two, finding the time to beat my PBs is getting harder!
-
Anna Zazzaro – Assistant Headteacher
I have been at Tanbridge House school since 1983, and suffice to say that I have seen very many changes and developments to the school over the years. I have held a variety of different roles ranging from Head of PSHE and Careers, Head of House, and Leader of Year which culminated in my appointment to Senior Assistant HeadTeacher in 2002.
My vision for education is that students are enthused by learning, that we nurture high ambitions for all, and provide a platform for them not only to be academically successful, but citizens who can take ownership of their learning and want to make meaningful contributions to the school and the wider community. Tanbridge House School is an excellent place where this happens. I am also passionate about students Emotional Health and well being and believe happy students are at the core of a successful school.
I am excited about the future and what it holds for Tanbridge House. I look forward to being part of a team that successfully moves Tanbridge from ‘Good to Outstanding’.

Sarah Edwards – Assistant Headteacher
I joined the school in September 2004 and before that I learnt the craft of teaching at Littlehampton Community School and then went to Chailey School in Lewes as Head of Languages. I am lucky enough to have held three different positions during my time at THS: Head of Languages for two years, Director of Standards in charge of Year 7 for one year and since my return to work after maternity leave in July 2008 I have held the post of Assistant Headteacher.
In my current role I look after the Continuing Professional Development needs of all of our staff, I oversee Assessment for Learning and I work closely with the Deputy Headteacher with regard to ensuring that our students receive the best teaching and learning.
I studied German and Philosophy at the University of Leeds, where I gained an upper second class degree. I then went on to Homerton College at Cambridge University to complete my Post-Graduate Certificate in Education.
-
Peter Marshallsay - Assistant Headteacher
My initial appointment in September 2006 was as Director of Standards, however, this year has seen my role change. My current role involves Parental Involvement and Communication and the development of extended services. This role is vital in ensuring the two-way communication between parents and school is effective. In addition, I lead and oversee the school on its out-of-school-hours-learning provision ensuring the school is an accessible centre for all aspects of learning by its students, parents, local businesses and other members of the local community. I have successfully implemented the Curriculum Enrichment Week and Tanbridge's Family Learning sessions. I also have initiated the Parent Forum, which meets every term to discuss the work of the school and its parents.
I began teaching in 1993 at Therfield School, Leatherhead, as a PE Teacher and gained promotion to Leader of PE at the Ashcombe School, Dorking in 1999. Within these posts I worked closely with National bodies, particularly the Professional Development Board for PE from 2000-2005. This work gained me the honour of being awarded a Fellowship of the Association for Physical Education in 2004 and presenting at the Pre-Olympic conference in Greece. My heart lies in this field and I can always be relied upon to review the present state of English cricket to anyone who will listen.
-
Vicky Edwards – Assistant Headteacher
I joined Tanbridge House School in September 2002, having taught previously at Boundstone Community College in Lancing and Banbury School, Oxfordshire. I have held a number of roles at Tanbridge; my initial appointment was as Science Coursework Coordinator, which became Second in Science after two years, and I have been Leader of Science for the last three years.
In my current role, I will still continue leading the Science department, ably supported by my excellent team, but I am very pleased to be leading the Specialist School Status. It is a really exciting opportunity and I am looking forward to working across the school and with members of the community to extend our Specialist provision.
I studied Ecology at Imperial College, London University where I gained an upper second class degree. I then completed my Post-Graduate Certificate in Education at Oxford Brookes University.

Adrian Dunkley - Assistant Headteacher
I have recently joined the Senior Management Team at Tanbridge House School, in January 2010, as Assistant Headteacher. I am initially working closely with the Maths department to raise standards but I am taking on other roles as my time progresses. These, amongst others, will include oversight of the Gifted and Talented provision and ensuring the smooth transition of students at key times in their schools careers. I believe in hard work and fair play and delight in the exam success that this brings.
I began teaching in 1986 at St. Andrew's School in Worthing and, until this move I continued to work in Worthing. This included 7 years as Head of Year and KS3 co-ordinator at Durrington High School and 4 years as Head of a very successful maths department at Worthing High School. These two key positions afforded me a balanced perspective of how to attain high academic success coupled with student well being.
In a nice twist of fate I have returned to Horsham where I grew up before leaving Collyers and gaining an upper second class honours degree from Exeter University in Maths and PE. It was there that I met my future wife, Rachel also a teacher, with whom I share the love and care of 3 lively children Ellen (16), Sam (14) and Alfie (11) and each other. In my spare time I've been known to swim, play golf and cricket and am currently enjoying coaching my son's team at Findon CC.
