Tanbridge House takes on Les Misérables
Tanbridge House School staged a fantastic production of Les Misérables (Student Edition) at the Capitol Theatre on 22nd, 23rd and 24th June 2010.
This ambitious production followed the hugely successful Sweeney Todd and West Side Story and showcased the huge range of talent that Tanbridge students possess.
The cast and crew worked tirelessly for many months, even coming into school on Saturdays to ensure that the show went off without a hitch. Artistic Director Mrs Mackay said: “I have been very impressed by the cast. They have worked with great commitment and enthusiasm and the show was fantastic.”
Michael Gattrell, General Manager of the Capitol Theatre, said: “It is always pleasing to see young people achieve such quality in a short time period. Tanbridge should be pleased with their result.”
In typical Tanbridge fashion, students were involved at every step of the way and not just as cast members. Year 11 students were Assistant Directors and held other key roles on the production team. Students were in the band and there was a huge team of backstage support, made up of both staff and students. It was truly a team effort.
Headteacher, Mr White, said: “I feel a great sense of pride not only because of the quality of the production, but because Performing Arts at Tanbridge House encapsulates everything that is good about the school. Adults and students have worked tirelessly and harmoniously to put together a wonderful piece of musical theatre. I know that all of the participants and indeed the viewing public will have enjoyed a night to remember.”
