“When students first come to Tanbridge House, every effort is made to ensure they quickly settle into the school and parents appreciate this. As one said, 'I am very happy with how my daughter is settling into her new school life.”

Welcome to Tanbridge House Schools,
Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)
The VLE is a dynamic online learning system available “24/7”. The VLE facilitates the education of students in a customised and personalised environment, both in and out of school providing students with access to learning resources and material. All you require is a computer and internet access.
The VLE enables students to work independently at home by supplying them with the resources they need to revise, catch up on missed work, practice exams/tests etc and to undertake research to extend their subject knowledge. It is not intended to deliver teaching, but to support, reinforce, motivate and excite.
In this initial development phase, staff will be uploading resources used in lessons, practice assessments and relevant web links that support their subject. This is a very large undertaking so initially coverage maybe uneven across subjects and year groups.
The VLE is hosted by MOODLE, a tried and tested open source software package designed specifically for the job, and which is very widely used in education at all levels worldwide. As Moodle is open source software there is no technical support available apart from help forums, so we are running it ourselves. We have also decided to host the VLE on our own server so that we have full control over access, connectivity and ‘backing up’ of the content.
The content files are suitable and appropriate for school age children, as are the linked websites. However, we cannot be responsible for the content of any websites that may be linked from the above sites. You would still need to exercise your normal precautions over your child’s use of the internet.
We will not take the position that students will be required to use the VLE at home to complete their work: Any assignments that may in future be set through the VLE will always have a paper alternative available.
