In Art, our aims are:

To provide a broad, balanced art curriculum which revisits skills at each age point to consolidate and deepen knowledge and build confidence.
To enable students to develop their artistic skills across a range of 2D and 3D media to be able to express themselves creatively.
To give students the skills to use lateral thinking and flexibility to independently problem solve.
To develop the visual literacy skills to effectively navigate the world around them and foster critical and independent thought processes.
To develop knowledge of the subject and an understanding of how artists engage with the world, develop and research ideas via a wide range of media and processes.
To develop the critical analysis and self-reflection needed to effectively work autonomously and independently.
To develop the ability to synthesise and relate knowledge and use this to reach their own conclusions.
To relate artistic ideas and works with societal, cultural, and historical context to deepen their understanding of the ever-changing world around them.
To work alongside teachers who actively challenge and support students to enable them to achieve their full potential.
To enable students to gain confidence in who they are and give them the tools to explore and express this visually
