The Computer Science department at Tanbridge House School aim to equip students with the skills to participate in a rapidly changing technical world through challenging and engaging topics. We examine how computing impacts their lives and wider society, we teach them to be critical and evaluative about cultural differences and how the digital divide affects communities.

We teach them to become problem solvers, to use logic and reasoning to solve a problem. This is not only a transferrable skill across the whole curriculum it is a skill they will be able to take forward in their day to day life and career beyond Tanbridge.

Computer Science GCSE equips students to have a solid foundation in Computing opening a wide range of job opportunities including, designers, programming, cyber security, engineering, project management and much more.

At KS4 students are given the chance to choose Computer Science alongside their compulsory IT BTEC qualification.

Our curriculum is designed to allow students to:

• Gain comprehensive knowledge and understanding of fundamental concepts and principles of digital systems.
• To understand and accurately define technical terminology.
• Understand and explore the social and cultural impacts of technology on our society and environment.
• Apply problem-solving, fundamental concepts, mathematical skills to a range of programming challenges using an analytical, logical and evaluative methodology.
• Develop and refine programs that will meet the user requirements.
