Joining the School
We are thrilled that you are joining the Tanbridge House School community!
Find out what is in store for you and your child during the transition process.
Primary School Visits
During March, April and May, we visit our new students in their primary school settings. These visits allow us to spend time getting to know each student, meet with Year 6 teachers, and work closely with SENCo staff to ensure a smooth and well-supported transition to THS.
Single School Transition Morning
In June, we welcome students from smaller schools to THS. During their visit, students spend the morning with us, giving them the opportunity to form new friendships and helping to ease any concerns they may have about transitioning to secondary school without knowing anyone.
Induction Day
In July, year 6 students who will be starting at THS are invited to attend Induction Day.
The purpose of Induction Day is to show students what life at Tanbridge House School is like and to make the transfer to secondary school as easy as possible.
On arrival, prefects and senior staff will be stationed at all entrances in order to to direct students to the Main Hall (you will not need to escort your child to the hall).
Students will have all lessons with their new Tutor Groups and our Y10 prefects will be on hand to help the year 6 students throughout the day.

- school bag
- packed lunch and drink or cash for Canteen
Eating Arrangements
On Induction Day, our Canteen and outside courtyard will be set aside for Year 6 students only (eating is not allowed in any other parts if the school).
Students can bring a packed lunch or buy food and drink in the Canteen.
Packed Lunches
Please do not bring food containing nuts to school. This is due to a number of children with nut allergies.
Canteen
Students will need to bring cash (approx. £5 in small change only please) if they plan to purchase food from the canteen on Induction Day.
Meet the Tutor Evening
Also in July, parents and carers will be invited to attend our Meet the Tutor Evening. During the event, they will attend a presentation by the Headteacher in the sports hall and have the opportunity to meet their child’s new tutor in one of our science classrooms.
