Booktober is here!
Log you non-fiction reading here
Following the success of March into Reading, we are launching a brand new reading initiative...Booktober!
Throughout the month, we are challenging our school community to collectively read 10,000 non-fiction texts; this could be biographies/auto-biographies, non-fiction poetry, reference books, magazines, essays, self-help books, to name a few.
To join in, students (and staff) simply need to log any non-fiction reading they do using our simple Survey Monkey form: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/P5R6LTV - every time you read some non-fiction, log it and let's see if we can reach 10,000 texts!
In addition to the reading challenge, and to promote the joy of reading as well as the importance of reading to support the curriculum, there are lots of activities going on around school throughout the month, including:
- A Guinness World Record attempt; joining the world's largest poetry lesson
- Non-fiction nobodies shared across social media - can you guess who is reading the non-fiction text
- Prize Draw in the LRC
- Year 7 Non-Fiction Book Quiz
- Tier 3 Spelling Bee
- Writers Club Non-Fiction Focus
- Open Evening Booktober Bonanza
Happy reading!
