Booktober returns to THS

October is an exciting month at Tanbridge House School as we once again celebrate Booktober — a month dedicated to all things books and reading. Students across all year groups have been getting involved in a range of fun and inspiring events that bring books and stories to life.

Throughout the month, staff and students have been taking part in the Booktober Challenge, aiming to read as many whole books as possible and recording progress using personalised online logs. Watch this space for the total at the end of the month!

Two fantastic virtual author talks have taken place during Booktober too, giving students the chance to hear from celebrated writers Piers Torday and Emma Carroll, who shared insights into their stories and writing journeys.  There have also been Cosy Fireside Reading sessions running, offering students a chilled space to relax and enjoy being read to by their teachers.

From Monday 20 - Friday 24 October, Bookoween adds an extra bit of magic to the mix! Students who borrow a book from the LRC or on Sora during the week will receive a Bookoween treat — the perfect way to celebrate reading during the spooky season! Harry Potter Film Screenings are also taking place after school during Bookoween.

Mrs Watton, Coordinator of English KS3 & Y9 and Primary Transition, said: “Booktober is such a special time at Tanbridge. It’s wonderful to see students so engaged — reading, talking about stories, and finding real joy in books. The enthusiasm this year has been fantastic and I can't wait to see how many books our school community has read in total."
