History Dept Celebrates Black History Month
October means one thing in the History Department and that’s Black History Month! The theme of this year’s Black History Month is ‘Standing Firm in Power and Pride’.
As well as assemblies for all years, students in Years 7-9 have been spending one or two lessons researching the history of five key individuals: Walter Tull, Katherine Johnson, Pablo Fanque, Noor Inayat Khan and Martin Luther King Jr.
They were then tasked with making a poster or sculpture that could be put on display in a museum to teach others about their life - you can some examples of students’ amazing work below.
We are keen at Tanbridge to make sure that Black History is more than a month so we will be spending some time revisiting these individuals in tutor times over the next academic year.
