Holocaust Memorial Day
The Equality Council and some History Scholars attended a virtual event to mark Holocaust Memorial Day. They joined hundreds of other schools around the country taking part in the virtual event run by the Holocaust Educational Trust.
Students listened intently as Holocaust survivor, Hedi Argent, spoke about her experience of the Holocaust. Hedi was born in Austria in 1929 and spoke about her time living in Austria both before and after the Anschluss as well as during Kristallnacht.
Just before the Second World War Hedi arrived in England as a refugee and spoke about how she loved school in England and has spent the rest of her life giving back to others.
Hedi spoke inspirationally about the importance of kindness.
Students were then given the opportunity to take part in the question and answer session.
The Equality Council and History Scholars behaved amazingly, and were an absolute credit to the school.
