Readathon is back!

Our annual Readathon is back once again, and will see students in Year 7 and 8 challenging themselves to read as much as possible across the Readathon week...and collecting sponsorship for every page, book or hour they read.

Readathon runs from Friday 24 January to Friday 31 January 2025. This initiative encourages students to read as much as they can throughout the week and collect sponsorship for every book, page or minute/hour they read.

Students will be given sponsorship cards by their tutor in order to collect sponsorship from friends/family. Money raised will go to ‘Read for Good’ which provides books and storytellers to all major UK children’s hospitals, and funds projects encouraging children to read for pleasure. Even small donations make a difference!

During the Readathon, KS3 students will have dedicated time for reading during their English lessons as well as being encouraged to read at home too. Ebooks, comics, magazines and audiobooks count towards students’ total read – take a look at our new Sora eLibrary app to access a huge range of these for free.

Please submit donations by Friday 7 February using one of the following methods:

  • Online at www.readforgood.org/sponsor
  • Via cheque, made payable to Read for Good (handed to tutors)
  • Cash in a named envelope (handed to tutors)

Tanbridge House School will receive book vouchers worth 20% of the sponsorship total to spend at Scholastic Book Clubs and the student who is recognised as putting in the most effort will be rewarded with a £10 National Book token.

You can find reading recommendations in the latest LRC newsletter, through our LRC Book Catalogue and via our Facebook and Instagram accounts – try searching #THSBookoftheWeek or #THSLovesReading.
