Sports Highlights...the term so far
It has been a brilliant start to the academic year so far within the PE department, with a number of fantastic team performances across a range of sports. This includes (but not limited to):
Cricket
- The Year 8 Boys Cricket Team won the Sussex Schools Street Cricket Competition at the start of September, in the delayed final from last summer. Team Tanbridge won against all four competing schools to win the competition and be crowned Champions.
Boys Football
- Our Year 7 boys played against the Weald in their first competitive fixtures representing THS. All three sides and players were a credit to THS and we left with one draw and two wins.
- The Y8 Boys football team won 2-0 against The Weald with a really confident display, and two brilliant goals from Ben.
- The Year 11 boys played in a cup game against Forest, playing well but sadly losing 2-0.
Girls Football
- The U12 girls played a brilliant first ever game for THS, with a victory against Blatchington Mill. From start to finish the girls worked extremely hard and were showing great passages of play throughout. Their passing and work rate as a team was unmatched
- The U14s won 5-4 against The Ratton School in their County Cup fixture
- The Girls U15 Football team had a brilliant win, featuring a hattrick from Maya, against Ardingly College in their National Cup Fixture
Handball
- The U16 Boys Handball squad took part in a regional Handball tournament at The Petersfield School. Whilst they lost the game, they played really well and were ahead for half of it. They were also playing boys a year older so they did a brilliant job holding their own.
Rugby
- The Year 9 boys played their first friendly of the season, with a few players making their debut (Casper and Tyrone). They played a tough and athletic opposition who sadly won the game, but our players showed brilliant spirit and played well!
Swimming
- 19 THS students took part in the Sussex Champions Swimming Gala in September and showed fantastic ability across the board.
