THS Celebrates STEAM Day
We were thrilled to once again celebrate all things Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths with our annual STEAM Day.
As part of British Science Week, which was themed on 'Change & Adapt' this year, STEAM Day saw students take part in a range of themed activities and lessons throughout the day.
- All Year 7 students visited the Cosmic Classroom Inflatable Planetarium and were taken on a fascinating tour of the night sky by the team from The Observatory Science Centre.
- Year 8 had a brilliant morning with Animazing, meeting some new friends including hissing cockroaches, a bird-eating spider, an albino hedgehog and a barn owl.
- Year 9 took part in a live Science show on 19 March, delivered by the Royal Institution, with tickets also available for an evening show for KS3 families who wanted to attend.
- Year 10 and 11 students all had STEAM themed starters in their lessons throughout the day, looking at how different areas of the curriculum link to STEAM subjects.
Mr Stender, Extended Leadership Team and STEAM Day Coordinator, said: "Students have once again had a fantastic STEAM Day, and it has been wonderful to see them all so engaged and inspired by STEAM subjects throughout the day. Thanks again to The Observatory Science Centre, the Royal Institution, and Animazing, who continue to inspire young people to be curious about the world around them and beyond!"
