THS are Dance Live Winners!
Tanbridge House School has taken first place at the Guildford heat of the annual Dance Live dance competition! Our outstanding dance performance, based on a theme of homelessness, secured our spot in the national finals in April.
Our captivating dance piece, "When I Find Home," was based around the theme of homelessness. Through mesmerizing choreography, emotive music, and a stunning digital backdrop, the talented THS Dance Live team brought this important theme to life.
As part of the process, and to gain a better understanding of issues surrounding homelessness, THS partnered with West Sussex homeless charity, Turning Tides. Year 11 Dance Live students had a visit from a charity representative, Sophie, who talked to them about how young people can become homeless, the reality of being homeless and the difficulties in escaping homelessness.
Half of the money raised at our Dance Live fundraiser, Make Your Move, was donated to Turning Tides to help support the important work that they do, we also arranged a whole school collection of essential items for the charity, to support homeless young people in the county.
With a firm understanding of issues around homelessness, and after months of dedicated rehearsals and meticulous technical planning, our final performance wowed the audience in Guildford on Wednesday 19 March. Despite fierce competition from schools across the region, THS emerged victorious as the heat winners.
Mrs. Hyslop, Leader of Dance, expressed her immense pride in the 2025 Dance Live team. She said: "I am so proud of Team Tanbridge! Students' hard work and dedication not only shone through in the dance itself but also in the supporting technical elements. This year's piece, centred on the theme of homelessness, evoked powerful emotions and resonated deeply with the audience. The team's moving performance has earned them a well-deserved spot in the finals. Well done!"
Dance Live is an annual national competition that celebrates the creativity, performance, and technical elements of dance; challenging schools to deliver awe-inspiring multimedia dance performances.
The final will take place on 22 April at Portsmouth Guildhall. Good luck!
