THS reads over 1,000,000 pages!

We are thrilled to announce that, as part of our March into Reading campaign, THS students and staff have collectively read over 1 million pages; smashing our original target to read 500,000 pages over the month of March.

Staff and students were encouraged throughout the month to read for pleasure, read in lessons and log every page they read using a simple online survey. Celebrity supporters including GK Barry, Danny Jones, Pete Wicks and Sam Thompson all offered words of encouragement through our social media channels, and we also had a number of authors including Tia Fisher and Chris Bradshaw spurring us on through some good luck video messages.

There were over 2,000 entries on the online survey, and the final number of pages read totaled 1,092,320!

Mrs Watton, who lead the March into Reading initiative, said: “We are absolutely delighted with the final number of pages read. Students and staff really got behind the initiative and frequently told me what they’d read and how many pages they logged online! Reading is so important and is embedded within our school community. Well done to everyone who got involved and helped us to read such a staggering amount this March!”
