Year 9 Inspire Programme Visit to the University of Oxford
On Thursday 2 October a group of Year 9 students had the exciting opportunity to visit St John’s College, University of Oxford, as part of the Inspire Programme — an initiative that encourages students from state schools to explore university life and aim high in their future studies.
During the visit students enjoyed a fascinating College tour, an introductory talk about studying at university, and an engaging critical thinking tutorial on AI and Art. A highlight of the day was experiencing a delicious lunch in the historic dining hall, offering a real taste of student life at Oxford!
Mr Loney, Assistant Headteacher and Inspire Coordinator at THS, said: “Although some students felt a little nervous at first, they quickly rose to the challenge, approaching the discussions with confidence and enthusiasm. The visit proved both inspiring and empowering for them, marking an excellent start to their three-year Inspire journeys.”
Students also have the chance to attend online seminars and summer school sessions throughout the duration of the programme.
