GSO Test

PE

Our PE curriculum has been carefully designed to help students develop knowledge, skills, strategy and tactics giving the opportunity for students to then apply this to competitive situations. Students will have the opportunity to explore a wide variety of traditional sports with further exciting opportunities to experience sports, which students are less likely to have experienced outside of school, such as ultimate frisbee, handball, Gaelic football, Aussie Rules, Orienteering, Caving, Cheerleading, Yoga, Sports Acro and more. The intention is to deliver an ambitious and balanced curriculum where all students have the opportunity to be successful promoting inclusivity and engagement in physical activity.

Students will be encouraged to develop their team-working, reflective, problem solving and communication skills as part of the curriculum in PE, and, at times, they will be encouraged to adopt a leadership role within lessons, thereby developing their confidence and resilience when faced with the challenge of leadership

At the heart of the PE curriculum is a fundamental desire to promote equal opportunities, inclusivity and a lifelong commitment to a healthy and active lifestyle, as well as a passion for participation in physical activity and competition. Beyond the taught curriculum, student's eyes are opened to additional opportunities to participate in after-school clubs and fixtures in a variety of sports.
