Psychology
At Tanbridge House School we want to cultivate a passion and curiosity for why people behave the way they do. The intent for the Psychology curriculum is to ensure that learners are equipped with the necessary scientific knowledge, skills and vocabulary so that they develop a better understanding of the wider world. The curriculum enables our learners to value the importance of psychological studies and research whilst promoting curiosity of the human body and mind; in both the local and global community.
Our curriculum supports learners to make cross curricular links, consider the ethical aspects of a range of topics and gain a well-rounded knowledge to make positive post-16 and career choices.
We want our students to recognise that Psychology is rich in theory and is heavily based in evidence. As such, our intention is to ensure students are introduced to a variety of concepts from some of the most influential Psychologists throughout history. We study the impact that their work has had on society across the world and encourage students to make links between what they have learned in class and real-life.
Our curriculum is sequenced so that students are secure in these concepts and can effectively evaluate the variety of research methods used when studying human behaviour.
